Kappa
Scientific name: Fonsimius nipponos (Japanese spring monkey). Fons is Latin for "spring," as in a source of water and simius means "monkey" or "ape," while Nippon is a kanji word referring to "Japan."
 Height: 2 to 3 feet
Weight: 200 ibs
Habitat: woodland areas with lakes
Region: Morushima
Evolved from: Japanese macaque
Lifespan: 25 years

- Named after the Japanese yokai of the same name
- Kappas are quadrupedal primates that look and act similarly to hippos. Most of their bodies are void of hair except for the top of the head, neck, back and tail.
- These animals are herbivores. Feeding on aquatic plants, grass, and fruit. They spend most of their time in or near water.
- Their skin is red and their hair is brown. However alpha males have grayish white fur. Kappas live in groups of up to 15 or even 30 depending on how large the lake is. Males often compete for territory and mating by biting each other in the face or neck.
- Kappas possess thick blubbery skin and large heads. Their jaws are extremely powerful and are used for self defense against predatory rodents, moles, and predatory primates.
